Video Media Players




  1. This standard applies to video cassette recorders (VCRs), DVD recorders, VCD/DVD players, VCR-DVD combination units, and audio-DVD combination units, but excludes portable ones.
  2. The product power consumption during the standby mode shall meet the following requirements:

    Note: Manufacturers may add an additional 1 W to the specifications for VCR, VCD or DVD products with an illuminated or backlit display (e.g., a clock) or other electronic status indicator (e.g., recording status or video mode indicator).

     

  3. With the exception of audio-DVD combination units, the power consumption for all other products during active mode shall not be greater than 15 W.
  4. Product case components/parts weighing 25 g or greater shall meet the following requirements:
    • shall not use plastics containing chlorine or bromide;
    • with the exception of less than 0.5 wt% fluoro-organo additive, shall not contain other halogenated compounds;
    • shall not contain the following flame retardants:
      • polybrominated biphenyls, (PBBs);
      • polybrominated diphenylethers, (PBDEs): monobrominated diphenylether, dibrominated diphenylether, tribrominated diphenylether, tetrabrominated diphenylether, pentabrominated diphenylether, hexabrominated diphenylether, heptabrominated diphenylether, octabrominated diphenylether, nanobrominated diphenylether, decabrominated diphenylether.
      • long-chain chloroparraffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule and chlorine content of greater than 50% by weight.
    • the number of materials used shall not exceed four, and shall be able to be separated without using special tools or techniques;
    • any single plastic case component/part weighing 25 g or greater shall be manufactured using one single plastic material;
    • with the exception of electrical or electronic components (including electrical cable and wire), any plastic component weighing 25 g or greater shall not contain cadmium, lead or mercury.
  5. If batteries are included with the products, they shall have a useful life of at least 5 years and the contents of lead, cadmium and mercury shall meet the following requirements:

  6. The labels/markings/stickers on the plastic components shall be made from the same material (or materials with compatibility of less than 3 (< 3), as in the table below) as the attached plastics, if they are difficult to be separated from attached plastics:

  7. Plastic components weighing 25 g or greater and have surface area greater than 200 mm2 shall meet the requirements of ISO 11469, which include clear indication of composition code and recycling symbol on an easy-to-see area of the component, to facilitate future recycling.
  8. Packaging material shall not contain polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or other chlorine containing plastics. Corrugated cartons used for product packaging shall be made from recycled pulp with at least 80% recycled paper.
  9. The products shall meet the requirements of CNS 13439 with regard to limitations on emitted frequency interferences.
  10. Consumers shall be provided with the following information in the product, product packaging or user manual:
    • Power to the product shall be cut off while not in use to conserve energy;
    • The product still consumes energy even in standby mode; and the information on reduction of standby power consumption;
    • The minimum service life of the product and information on how to obtain spare components/parts;
    • If recycling service is provided, information on how consumers may proceed with product recycling.
  11. The name, address and contact information of the Green Mark user must be clearly printed on the product or on the packaging material.
  12. The product or its packaging shall bear a label reading 'Energy Saving and Low Pollution'.

Notes:

  1. The determination of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers flame retardants shall be based on international, national or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 3540C/8081A/8082A/8270D, and the detection limit shall be no greater than 5 ppm.
  2. The determination of long-chained chloroparraffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule shall be based, in the order of preference, on international, national or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 8270D/3540C/GC-MSD, and the detection limit shall be no greater than 5 ppm.
  3. The determination of cadmium, lead, and mercury, shall be based, in the order of preference, on international, national or specific industry standards, such as US EPA 3050B/3051A/3052/3060A, and the detection limit shall be no greater than 2 ppm.
