Digital Camcorders/Cameras

Revision approved by the ninth Green Mark Review Committee meeting of 2007 on November 16, 2007

  1. The following criteria apply to electronic photographic devices (“products”) capable of digitally recording images continuously; excluding close-circuit TV cameras or similar devices which are only used for transmission of video signals or mobile phones with digital image recording function.
  2. The product shall be capable of entering power saving mode automatically or entering standby power mode when not in use.
  3. If battery is included in the product’s mainboard, the heavy metal contents of the battery shall be mercury (< 5ppm), cadmium (< 5ppm), and lead (< 15 ppm). For the storage battery assembly which provides power to the product, its heavy metal contents shall be mercury (< 1 ppm), cadmium (< 10 ppm), and lead ( < 100 ppm). For charger or storage battery assembly which shipped with the product, its energy performance shall meet the requirements for US EPA’s Battery Charging System, and shall have overload protection (See Note 1).
  4. The product shall meet the requirements of ISO 11469, which include labelling all major plastic components weighing more than 25 g in prominent areas to indicate the composition code and recycling symbol to facilitate future recycling.
  5. Product’s plastic parts weighing more than 25 g shall meet the following requirements (see Note 5):
    • (1) shall not contain cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium or mercury (see Note 2);
    • (2) shall not contain the following flame retardants (see Notes 3 & 4):
      • (i) polybrominated biphenyls, (PBBs);
      • (ii) polybrominated diphenylethers, (PBDEs): monobrominated diphenylether, dibrominated diphenylether, tribrominated diphenylether, tetrabrominated diphenylether, pentabrominated diphenylether, hexabrominated        diphenylether, heptabrominated diphenylether, octabrominated   diphenylether, nanobrominated diphenylether, decabrominated   diphenylether; and
      • (iii) short-chained chloroparaffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule and chlorine content of greater than 50% by weight.
  6. The product shall meet the relevant requirements in CNS 14021 concerning disassemble design.
  7. The manufacturing process for product and its packaging shall not use substances controlled by the Montreal Protocol.
  8. If the product’s attached labels/markings/stickers are difficult to be separated from the product, they shall be made from the same material as the components they are attached to.
  9. The name, address and contact phone number of the Green Mark user must be clearly printed on the product or on the packaging material.
  10. The product or its packaging shall bear a label reading ”Low Pollution and Energy Saving”.

Notes

  1. For the requirements on determination of product’s energy performance, please refer to the ENERGY STAR Program Requirements for Products with Battery Charging System (BCSs)。
  2. The determination criteria and documentation requirements for plastic parts weighing 25 g or more are stated in the “Determination Criteria for Plastic Parts Requiring Testing”.
  3. The determinations of contents of cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium and mercury, shall be based, in the order of preference, on national, international or specific industry standards, such as US EPA 3060A/NIEA R353.00C(US EPA 3050B)/US EPA 3051A/US EPA 3052, and the detection limits shall be no greater than 2 ppm.
  4. The determinations of contents of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers flame retardants shall be based on, in the order of preference, national, international, or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 3540C/8081A/8082A/8270D, and the detection limit shall be no greater than 5 ppm.
  5. The determination of content of short-chained chloroparaffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule shall be based, in the order of preference, on national, international, or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 8270D/3540C/GC-MSD, and the detection limit shall be no greater than 5 ppm.
