  1. The product shall be capable of entering a low power-consumption mode (sleep-mode), and off-mode after a certain period of inactivity. The power consumption at the sleep- mode and off-mode shall be less than 5 watts and 2 watts, respectively.
  2. The product shall include labels on all major plastic components, indicating the composition code to facilitate future recycling. Codes should obey ISO 11469 requirements.
  3. Plastic components of the product weighing 25 g or greater shall meet the following requirements (see Note 1):
    • shall not contain cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium, and mercury (see Note 2);
    • shall not contain the following flame retardants (see Notes 3 and 4):
      • polybrominated biphenyls, (PBB);
      • polybrominated diphenylethers, (PBDE): monobrominated diphenylether, dibrominated diphenylether, tribrominated diphenylether, tetrabrominated diphenylether, pentabrominated diphenylether, hexabrominated diphenylether, heptabrominated diphenylether, octabrominated diphenylether, nanobrominated diphenylether, decabrominated diphenylether.
      • short-chained chloroparaffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule and chlorine content of greater than 50% by weight.
  4. The product and its manufacturing process shall not contain or use substances controlled by the Montreal Protocol.
  5. The product shall be disassembleable, and instructions on how to disassemble the product shall be enclosed with the product. Disassembleable means the products can be disassembled with regular tools, such as a screwdriver.
  6. The battery used in the product shall contain less than 1 ppm mercury, 10 ppm cadmium, 100 ppm lead, of the battery weight.
  7. Product with liquid crystal display (LCD) screen size equals or less than 12-inch (measured diagonally) shall contain less than 5 mg mercury in the display. Product with LCD screen size greater than 12-inch shall contain less than 10 mg mercury in the display.
  8. The name and address of the Green Mark user must be clearly printed on the product or on the packaging material.
  9. The product or the package material shall bear a label reading "Energy Saving".

Notes:

  1. Determination criteria and documentation requirements for plastic parts weighing 25 g or more are stated in the “Determination Criteria for Plastic Parts Requiring Testing”.
  2. Determinations of contents of cadmium, lead, hexavalent chromium and mercury, should be based, in the order of preference, on international, national or specific industry standards, such as US EPA 3050B/3051A/3052/3060A, and the detection limit should be no greater than 2 ppm.
  3. Determination of polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers flame retardants should be based on international, national or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 3540C/8081A/8082A/8270D, and the detection limits should be no greater than 5 ppm.
  4. Determinations of contents of short-chained chloroparaffins with 10-13 carbon atoms per molecule should be based, in the order of preference, on international, national or specific industry standards, such as the US EPA 8270D/3540C/GC-MSD, and the detection limit should be no greater than 5 ppm.
  5. Corrugated carton used for packaging should be made from recycled pulp with at least 80% recycled paper content. Plastic packaging should not contain any PVC or chlorine containing plastics.
